Perhaps the owner of this website is here and can offer some detailed
insight. I might make a lined wool hat that is simply and band and crown
(modern hat patterns from Butterick, etc, will have a good pattern to
follow), you might just need to make the band taller than a modern
pattern. Then apply trim in the zigity pattern.
