I use blend fabrics--linen/rayon, wool and mystery stuff, but it
depends on what it is being made into. I just moved to the REAL
thing. Buy it online. Cheaper than the fabric store by far, unless
you find a really super good sale.
I used 55%-45% linen rayon blend for making a peplos, which is either
a Greek, Roman, Celtic, or Norse dress depending on what you do with
it. I made it for hot weather and I was cool enough in it. I
avoid "Poly" and "Ester"--neither are invited into my wardrobe. I
don't much like a SWEAT-A-THON at events.
You can dry linen-rayon on LOW heat or do the air dry thing.
Otherwise hotter cycles make it fluff up the lint trap really bad, or
so I have noticed when I forgot to change the heat settings. There's
lower quality fabric (Walmart) and better quality. You get what you
pay for is true.
I use blends because I'm new and I still screw up making things (new
at sewing, too).
