Re: [SCA-Archery] Grand Archery Tourney
- Actually it is only six crossbow shooters. The minimum numbers are needed to ensure adequate numbers of archers for a ranking comparison. You can not combine the handbows and crossbows to achieve the minimum number. However, you can hold the same competition at another event and if the total numbers of archers from the combined shooting of the competition equal the minimum then you can send in the scores. Archers from the first event could shoot at the second competition, but their scores could only be counted once.Jon
- I was reading a post on another SCA archery group and a comment there made me think a further explanation of the GAT is needed. The GAT is not a set competition with its own distances, targets, scoring, etc. You do not really shoot a GAT, you submit scores from any event, with enough archers to qualify, with a single competition or several competitions. These scores are then entered into the GAT data base on the SCA Scores site and converted into relative standings society wide. There will need to be enough scores submitted to provide adequate information to determine the relative standings society wide on an archer by archer basis. The post from Joanna Trewpeny about Egils' Archery Tournament is an example of what can be shot and submitted to the GAT. Though an event does not have to have that many separate competitions. Please crosspost to your local archery group.Jon
- Sweeps curtsy,
Thanks for the clarification that the 'GAT' need not be completed at ONE event.
We had 8 participants at a small event recently (Adiantum Birthday Bash listed on scores-SCA.org-AnTir-EventShoots). It wasn't enough to submit to the GAT but it was a very good tournament. If I'm reading you correctly I could get several OTHER archers to shoot the SAME targets on a different day and add them INTO the results obtaining the necessary number of participants?
Egil's event is an insane number of targets and shoots.I'm so very thrilled that there is a way to 'calculate' and honor those that play novelty targets! Thanks GAT team! Come play!!
- Correct. You may repeat the competition/event more than once. This is to allow having enough archers shooting to have the minimum number to submit the score to the GAT.Jon
