From the Crooked Stick, according to Hugh D H Soar, at Finsbury and
Scorton societies, prior to 1687 targtet faces consisted of 4
concentric circles, only the innermost being specifically
distinguished by the color "gilded" (yellow). From 1687 target faces
were drawn with five concentric circles, all of which were accorded a
specific color; gilded and red for the first two, followed by inner
      white, black, and outer white.

I'm paraphrasing the book. There is no mention of size of the target,
but this target which dates back to 1687 is atleast similar to a FITA
      target.
