Estrella War point shoots
- For some reason my copy feature would not pick up the headers. In any
case, here is the text.
Appendix B Target Archery Scenarios
Range Hours and Administration
Scenarios for War Point Shoot shall commence at 8:00 a.m. on Friday,
February 18, and end at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19.
Setup of the nine (9) novelty shoots must be completed no later than 5
p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2000 and must remain in place until close
of the war point range on Saturday.
On Friday, the list will close at 4:30 p.m. If an archer is unable to
complete the entire war point shoot by 5:00 p.m., they will leave their
scoresheet in the folder at the list table and may continue their
shooting on Saturday. On Saturday, the list will close at 4 p.m. If an
archer is signed up on the list and on the line by 4 p.m., but has not
completed their shooting by 5:00 p.m., they may continue until they have
completed the entire shoot, provided they have been shooting the entire
hour. If an archer leaves the range after 5 p.m., their war point shoot
will be considered finished. If they have not completed the entire war
point range by dark, they must cease shooting and turn in their
scoresheet indicating the total scores they have up to that time.
Each of the four Principal Kingdoms shall be responsible for
administration of the range during one of the following times:
Kingdom of Atenveldt: Friday, February 18, 2000 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30
Kingdom of the Artemisia: Friday, February 18, 2000 from 12:30 p.m. to
Kingdom of Outlands: Saturday, February 19, 2000 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30
Kingdom of Caid: Saturday, February 19, 2000 from 12:30 p.m. to 5:00
The range will open as scheduled, regardless of the weather. Once the
range is open, the Marshal-In-Charge will determine if shooting
conditions are unsafe and if the range should be closed.
Archers may not practice on the War Point targets. There will be a
separate practice range for warming up. Archers go through the War Point
range only once for score using their weapon of choice (either
traditional, open, or crossbow equipment). One score per archer
independent of weapon choice -- no bonus points for choosing traditional
Scores are subject to re-adding of totals, if necessary.
It is recommended that archers bring at least twelve arrows to the range
and that the tips are firmly glued to the shafts utilizing a glue
designed for gluing tips securely. Household glue is not recommended.
Nine (9) novelty shoots will be set up to determine the War Point. Each
of the Principal Kingdoms will design two (2) of the nine (9) novelty
shoots -- Atenveldt, Caid, Outlands and Artemisia with one additional
timed shoot to be designed by Atenveldt. The designing kingdom shall
provide all targets and scoring information for their shoot. If there is
a target that requires constant monitoring; i.e. the rotating target,
the designing kingdom will ensure there is someone available to operate
it. There will be a total of six (6) untimed scenarios and three (3)
The novelty shoots shall be as follows:
Untimed: The Hunt
Pictures of four (4) animals will be on each face of a rotating cube.
The animals will be in a "running" mode. There will be two (2) hunters
on the front wall; one (1) hunter will be on horseback. There will also
be two (2) animals on the front wall of the target. You may shoot the
animals only once. Do not shoot the hunters or the horse. You will have
a maximum of six (6) arrows. (NOTE: the rotating mechanism is still in
the design mode. If it doesn't work as designed, this scenario will be
on a wall approximately 8-foot by 6-foot)
Four (4) animals on cube 8 points each.
Two (2) animals on face 4 points each.
Two (2) hunters and one (1) horse count zero (0) points for that arrow
Maximum score = 40 points
Timed : Mythological Creatures
Six (6) stands with mythological creatures. Shoot each one for five (5)
points each. You may shoot the creatures only one (1) time each. Time
allowed 30 seconds. Targets at various distances ranging from 10 - 30
Scoring: Six (6) creatures at five (5) points each. Maximum score = 30
Timed Scenario: "Help the Dryads Save Their Trees"
A 6-foot by 8-foot wall, at a distance of approximately 30 yards.
Painted on the wall are three (3) trees, each with a green dryad (tree
spirit) defending the "heart of the tree" (a large jewel located in the
top of the tree) from the dwarfs attacking the tree. There will be two
(2) dwarfs per tree.
Scoring: Archers have 30 seconds to shoot the six (6) dwarfs, while not
shooting the dryad or jewel. Each dwarf shot is five (5) points (each
dwarf can only be shot once for score); each dryad or jewel shot is zero
(0). Maximum score = 30 points
Untimed: Pigeon Shoot
Five (5) clay pigeons suspended about 2 yards in front of the target
butt. On the target butt, which will be about 20 yards from the archer,
will be a target board with 15 spots arranged in a three by five array.
Each archer will shoot five (5) arrows. Breaking or damaging a pigeon
will count as six (6) points. Two or more hits on the same pigeon still
only counts as one (1) hit for six (6) points. Any arrow hitting or
touching a spot on the back target will count as six (6) points. Maximum
of five (5) arrows allowed.
Scoring: Each arrow can score twelve (12) points for a total of 60
Timed: Meat on the table
The target will consist of four paper animals of various types and
sizes, which will be about 20 yards from the archer. The archer will
have 30 seconds to shoot as many arrows as possible before the animals
run away. Each animal will have a kill zone worth eight (8) points and a
wounding zone worth four (4) points. Only one shot within or touching
the kill zone on each animal will count (i.e. You can not kill something
twice). Any other hits contacting the kill zone or in the wounding area
shots will score as wounds for four (4) points each
Scoring: Four (4) kills and two (2) wounds for a total of 40 points.
Untimed: Obstacle Shoot
Four (4) life size human figures, partially covered by some obstacle.
You have six (6) arrows. A hit is any arrow that breaks the line of the
human figure without breaking the line of the obstacle. All hits that
break the top line of the belt and above, including head, torso, arms,
hands, etc., will count as a kill. All hits that are below the top of
the belt will only count as wounds. A hit that breaks the line of the
obstacle is a miss. A kill is worth eight (8) points. A wound is worth
four (4) points. If there is at least one hit in each of the four
targets, there will be a bonus of twelve (12) points. Targets will be
set up at approximately 20 yards
Scoring: Six (6) arrows at eight (8) points each plus a twelve (12)
point bonus for scoring a hit in each of the four (4) targets. Maximum
score = 60.
Untimed: Wand Shoot
Four (4) targets to be set up at non-standard distances. Shoot two (2)
arrows at each target.
Scoring: White = 1, Black = 2, Blue = 3, Red = 4, Yellow = 5 with
Maximum number of points = 40
Untimed: Birds in the Trees Shoot
A target will be placed 20 yards downrange with several birds sitting on
branches drawn on the target. The goal is to hit the birds, but not hit
the wood of the tree. There will be three (3) ends and the archer starts
with six (6) arrows. If any of the arrows end up hitting
partially-completely on the tree part of the target, the archer loses
those arrows for the subsequent ends.
Scoring: Birds will be scored one (1) point for blue birds, two (2)
points for red birds and three (3) points for gold birds. Total possible
= 54 points.
Untimed: William Tell
There will be a head positioned downrange 20 yards with an apple upon
it. The goal is to pierce the apple while leaving the head unscathed.
The archer will have one (1) end of three (3) arrows to try to
accomplish this task.
Scoring: 15 points for each arrow that pierces the apple, 0 points for
each arrow that misses completely. If an archer "kills" the head, they
must stop shooting. A killing shot is one that pierces the head. Grazing
shots to the head do not count as a kill. Those arrows shot before the
"kill" will be scored. Archers will get one (1) bonus point for letting
the head live (not killing it).Total possible = 46
Principal Monarchs shall open the range to allow shooting for the War
Point at 8:00 AM on Friday. No other archers will be allowed on the
range during this time to allow the Principal Monarchs time to complete
as much of the war point range as they wish.
The Known World Championship (KWC) will be held on Sunday. The
qualifying round will be in the morning between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00
noon. The tournament will be in the afternoon starting at 2:00 p.m.
Prize shoots will be held on Sunday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. in a
separate area of the archery range.
War Point Scoring
Scoring for the War Point shall be as follows:
The two (2) teams shall consist of archers from each of the Allied
Realms and their respective allies. The Allied Realms will be listed at
the Archery List Table and on each individual score sheet.
The total possible score for all of the nine (9) novelty shoots shall be
broken down into 5 equal-point divisions, which will reflect scores
representing skill level and experience of all archers.
Example: Grand Total for all nine novelty shoots = 400 Division
1--Archers' scores falling between 1-80 (20 percentile)
Division 2--Archers' scores falling between 81-160 (40 percentile)
Division 3--Archers' scores falling between 161-240 (60 percentile)
Division 4--Archers' scores falling between 241-320 (80 percentile)
Division 5--Archers' scores 321 or greater
Only a team's top 10 scores in each division shall be counted to
determine the division score. In the event a Team does not field a
minimum of 10 scores in a division, the number of the fewest scores in
that division for that Team shall be the number counted for the other
Team for that division.
Each division total shall be added together to determine a team score.
The winner of the War Point shall be the team with the highest team
If there are not enough archers in any one of the divisions to qualify,
the Divisions can be changed by a minimum of three (3) of the four (4)
principal Kingdom Archers. This will enable more archers from all
Kingdoms to qualify in the war point total.
In the event of a tie, a shoot off shall determine the War Point by the
top 5 scoring archers from each team. The shoot off shall consist of one
(1) end at 40 yards, 30 yards, and 20 yards with six (6) arrows shot at
the archer's leisure and one (1) 30 second speed end at 20 yards scoring
as many arrows as the archer can loose within that time. The shoot off
will be completed on a 60 cm., five (5) color target. The shoot off
shall be held on Sunday morning.
A team of four designated representatives, one from each of the
Principal Kingdoms shall be responsible for compiling of scores for the
War Point on Sunday morning between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.
