- Sep 20, 2012John,I'm sorry but I can't answer to much on just what is going on with GWW Archery this year until I find out more by this weekend.I will say this though, come next June my Barony will be having Crossbow Events at our annual anniversary, this I'm sorry to say is the only place we can have archery. Our anniversary event is located in the exact center of California, North Fork and we can do anything we like at this site.Just so you will know what my targets look like, I'm inclosing a photo of most of them so you can get the idea of how we like to make great novelty targets here in Nordwache. From: John Edgerton <sirjon1@...>

Subject: Re: [SCA-Archery] Great Western War. Target Archery?GreetingsThank you for your quick reply. Your targets sound like fun. Are there any other competitions as well?If no crossbows, I may not be shooting handbow unless the stitches in my bow arm have healed up by then. But, I will show up and watch for a while. I wish that Caid would allow for crossbows, for an inter-kindom event to not allow crossbows is rather limiting. Will there be any general meeting/get-together of archers just to talk archery?Would anyone be running the Fall Society Seasonal Archery Competition?JonFrom: Mike Boultinghouse <sekim2003@...>

John,There was a schedule made up over a week ago, but now I understand it is being changed because of tournements not included. I for one had submitted an Novelty Event which was large and long in doing, but was not approved. Now I see that I might be still having this event presented by my Barony of Nordwache, but will not know until sometime this coming weekend. My plan is to bring 3 very large targets, one a Castle Wall, another is the Dragon and another a large Viking Ship, plus my Charging Viking which is mounted on a sled and is pullled towards the archers from 40 yards away until it reaches the archers, then an hold is called. Along with these events I will have score sheets for all and an award will be presented by our Baroness to the overall winner of these 4 events once completed. If approved, the events will be shoot in the afternoon time because of the length of time needed for them.I also know that your Kingdom uses Crossbows alot, but I see no events scheduled for them and that is a shame, not the way I would be doing it if I was in charge....lolIn closing, I hope to see you there no matter what comes form what I have said....!From: John Edgerton <sirjon1@...>

Subject: [SCA-Archery] Great Western War. Target Archery?I went to the Great Western War web site to see when target archery was planed and what the competitions were. However, as in previous years, I could not find any information on the site. There was information for heavy combat, rapier, equestrian, hound coursing and youth combat. But, nothing for target archery. The war is in about two weeks, has any target archery been planed? What are the general target archery rules for the event?Thank you for any information you can give.Jon, West
