  • 16 July CME and SI

Here's my record for the events yesterday. The SI is quite clear at ~ 0600 UT. -- Roger Blackwell GM4PMK www.marsport.org.uk

I did not detect the previous sudden impulse of 1 July but I did detect the SI that arrived earlier today at 0601 UTC on 16 July. Space Weather Prediction

Group Description

The SAM-International group is for discussion of the Simple Aurora Monitor (SAM) and its application and use in the study and sensing of geomagnetism. However, members are not limited to geomagnetism and can discuss any SAM application.

The SAM was designed by Dirk Langenbach and Karsten Hansky. There are over 200 SAMS in Europe. A website dedicated to SAM magnetograms from around the world has been setup at http://www.sam-magnetometer.net/. A related website is: http://www.sam-europe.de/.

The primary application of the SAM is in the sensing and study of geomagnetism, but it is possible to use the SAM in other applications requiring magnetic sensing. The correspondences between geomagnetic storms, solar events and solar wind, aurora and radio propagation anomalies are well-known.

The SAM will be a useful instrument to amateur radio astronomers, radio amateurs, aurora photographers and experimenters. The SAM is available in kit form, is affordable and easy to use. The kit includes all hardware and application software.

Our goal is to build a worldwide, semi-professional geomagnetometer network based on the Simple Aurora Monitor. We would like to install a SAM on every continent including Antarctica. Internet access is required at the SAM location to join the worldwide network.

We encourage SAM users to contact us and to put your magnetograms at http://www.sam-magnetometer.net/.

This group is conducted in English and parallels the group http://de.groups.yahoo.com/group/Magmeter/, which primarily is conducted in German.
