        As a former UVM student, I can say for sure that this is an A1 college town (even without a football team). I have fond memories of the place (both the campus and the city). The campus does not overwhelm the city (unlike where I live now) because it is still a relatively small student body WRT the population of the city.

        And, hey, they gave Bernie Sanders his start by electing him mayor (as a Socialist!) and earned a mention in Doonesbury as the voters declared the "People's Republic of Burlington!"

        The only reason for leaving the Green Mountain State was that they did not have a PhD program in Anthro when I was there.

        Although I still do have some real estate in Weybridge VT overlooking Snake Mountain; except that I will have to die to take up residence there.
