> Subject: AN update
> Dear AN Contributing Editors,
> I wanted to share with you three AN-related updates.
> First, weve made some updates to the format of the November AN. I am very pleased with how the issue looks, at least in its current pre-press mode. It is different from past issues, and I hope you find it visually pleasing. I am always open to feedback, but since you are the contributing editors, Im particularly interested in hearing your thoughts after youve had a chance to see it.
> Second, the thematic series for the issues through September are set. They are: Circulation of Knowledge and Culture (Feb), Place (March), Sustainability (April), Restoration and Renovation (May) and Memorials and Memorialization (Sept). Please feel free to incorporate these themes into your columns, or to share the information with people you think may be interested in submitting a proposal. I havent yet finished the full CFPs, but wanted to go ahead and share the themes with you. Once they are online, I will let you know.
> Third, Im sure youve been wondering about when a new managing editor for AN will be named. Im pleased to announce that as of November 1, I will be the managing editor. As you probably know, Ive been the AN production editor since early 2008, and worked closely with Dinah on copyediting, layout, photos, and other AN-related projects, drawing on mainly on my technical skills. But what you may not know is that I also came to this publishing department with years of experience editing journal articles, books, and newsletters, as well as a doctorate in folklore from Indiana University. Ill have a brief announcement of this in AN probably in January as Ive missed my own deadline for the December issue.
> Im looking forward to continuing to work with you on AN and hope you will feel free to share your ideas with me either at our meeting in New Orleans, over email, or on the phone.
> Best regards,
> Amy Goldenberg
