job search help for outstanding anthropologist and teacher, high school or cc or...
- I have worked with Guven Witteveen for two years on the Anthropology Education Committee and he is a brilliant young man with a young family, has incredible computer skills as well as teaching and outreach community education experience. Anyone in Michigan who knows of any job or contact for same please help...he is really outstanding and it is hard to imagine him out of work.

Wow - I appreciate your help, Mark. I should contact the U-Michigan personnel office, too. Since I was unilaterally and wrongly pushed out the door, I fear that any application linking to my U-M job of 4 1/2 years will somehow bear a wrongful black mark against me.
With my kids in grades 8 and 9, I feel bound to limit my search to the greater Michgan area. I could do out of state or out of country, project-based work with stints at home and away, though. I'm considering looking for a way to get a public high school teaching job - at least benefits and pay are better than adjunct work. My provisional license of 1997 expired, though.
Money-wise, I've worked for cheap these past 10 years at the full-time equivalent of 35,000 - 39,000 per year. Naturally the more the better, of course, but I'd say 40,000 is a reasonable baseline.
My vita is attached, for your reference. I'm afraid I'd never manage the 6 courses in one semester that you once did, so a combination of teaching and admin or research would best suit me. Naturally the very best use of my talents is in an outreach, marketing or public education capacity - creating and adapting materials for specific audiences.
At present I comb the listings around colleges and universities of Michigan, as well as the civil service pages in the State of Michigan. I interviewed at Davenport University near Grand Rapids in early March, but haven't heard back. The leader of the search committee has taken maternity leave, her email bounce-back says, so I need to follow up with another of the committee there.
