Where: 5105 Williams Place (near Cal State LA)

      (323) 223-1507

Leanna will discuss the findings of a reflexive research project she
undertook with students from her 2006 summer and fall classes at Cal
State LA and LA Valley College.
The "Sex and Culture Project" explored how young people often from
first generation immigrant families negotiate the rough terrain
between what their parents and grandparents
expect them to do in regards to premarital virginity and endogamy and
what their Generation Y American peers are doing.

Food and Drink: Contributions are Welcome

intersections between gender, sex and culture. Her recent

America's Fidelity Crisis: Politics, Hypocrisy and Family Values and

Relationships. She has been a professor of anthropology for upwards

Gender. Her research has taken her to the hinterlands of East Africa,
