      VISITOR STUDIES: AT THE HEART OF IT ALL
      The 1999 VSA Conference in Chicago this summer includes Workshops (August
      3 and 4), Programs (August 5, 6 & 7), and Special Events. Programs
      include outstanding keynote speakers, provocative papers and panel
      sessions and stimulating posters and marketplaces. Long coffee breaks
      between sessions and evening special events will provide plenty of
      opportunities to socialize with your colleagues. Speakers are coming from
      near and far, including Canada, Australia, Israel, UK, and Russia. Please
      plan to join us in the Windy City!

      "The Science of Shopping" His research on behavior in stores has a bearing
      on what we know about visitors in museums.

      Friday, August 6 11:00 - 11:50 a.m.
      Robert Eisenberger Professor of Psychology at the University of Delaware
      "The Museumgoer's Motives: The Social and the Sublime" How to integrate
      humans' social nature with their desires for diversion and education is
      the key to the satisfying museum experience.
