      Greetings Everyone:

      For those who are attending the AAA meeting in Chicago, I want to invite
      you to attend the Open Forum on Future AAA Outreach to K-12 Schools.
      This forum will take place Friday Nov 21 in Boulevard B, Chicago Hilton
      and Towers.

      A bit of history and context: AAA created a 3-year commission in 1999,
      called the Anthropology Education Commission (AEC), to try to develop
      plans for anthropology to have more of a presence in preK through
      community college/adult schools (mostly emphasizing K-12). That
      commission "sunsetted" last year, but in the meantime, the Long Range
      Planning Committee has recommended to the AAA Executive Board that a
      permanent committee on educational outreach be formed. The Exec. Board
      will take action on this (approve/disapprove) in November, before the
      AAA meeting.

      The Open Forum to which you are invited is an opportunity for AAA
      members to have input in the beginning stage of this new committee.
      Please come and share your ideas with us.
