      Again!

      Dear Collegues,

Focus On the family is focusing on Ohio's science standards, again! The last
time he had something it netted literally thousands of e-mail to ODE. They can
use our support to counter this!

Ohio Board Set for Final Vote on 'Teaching the
      Controversy'

The Ohio Board of Education is expected on Tuesday to
vote on new science standards requiring students to
learn about how "scientists continue to critically analyze
aspects of evolutionary theory." This important new
provision calls for Ohio students to learn about evidence
both for and against contemporary evolutionary theory.

In October, the school board unanimously approved the
new standards in a preliminary vote. However, sources
say that advocates of "Darwin-only" science education
are pushing the board to water down or drop the new
      provision.

TAKE ACTION (for Ohio residents only):
Call or write the Ohio Board of Education and tell them
you are in favor of the proposal that teachers should
teach the full range of scientific views that exist on the
issue of biological evolution and origins.
