The Estate of a recently deceased physical anthropologist is offering a
300-400 volume anthropology collection to a deserving community college
library. The collection consists of mainly classic anthropological works
(Boas, Kroeber, Benedict, etc.), many of Margaret Mead’s works, Melanesian
      anthropology and physical anthropology.

Interested institutions may apply by e-mail to Lloyd Miller (ljmil@...—
IMPORTANT: PASTE RESPONSE INTO EMAIL; DO NOT SEND AS AN ATTACHMENT).
Application narratives should provide information and address issues as
      follows:

Number of full-time contracted anthropology faculty; number of anthropology
courses (and sections of each) offered each term; number of students served
by anthropology each year; how long has your institution offered
anthropology? How does anthropology fit into your college curriculum (e.g.,
core requirement, elective, etc.)? What is size of your library’s current
      holdings (total number of volumes)?

Also, please comment on the following: your library’s commitment to house,
maintain and retain the collection; your administration’s commitment to
accept (and pay shipping costs), value and advertise the collection, as well
as its overall commitment to your anthropology program and the maintenance of
      current staffing; some ways you envision your students using the collection;
anything additional that would show your institution’s need for the
      collection.

A three-person screening committee from the SACC Executive Board will
evaluate the applications and make recommendations. Application deadline is
Tuesday, July 10 (midnight, CST). Please include the name(s), e-mail and
shipping addresses and phone numbers of the person or persons authorized to
      receive the collection.
Your message has been successfully submitted and would be delivered to recipients shortly.
