Anthropology collection offered
- The Estate of a recently deceased physical anthropologist is offering a
300-400 volume anthropology collection to a deserving community college
library. The collection consists of mainly classic anthropological works
(Boas, Kroeber, Benedict, etc.), many of Margaret Meads works, Melanesian
anthropology and physical anthropology.

Application narratives should provide information and address issues as
Number of full-time contracted anthropology faculty; number of anthropology
courses (and sections of each) offered each term; number of students served
by anthropology each year; how long has your institution offered
anthropology? How does anthropology fit into your college curriculum (e.g.,
core requirement, elective, etc.)? What is size of your librarys current
holdings (total number of volumes)?
Also, please comment on the following: your librarys commitment to house,
maintain and retain the collection; your administrations commitment to
accept (and pay shipping costs), value and advertise the collection, as well
as its overall commitment to your anthropology program and the maintenance of
current staffing; some ways you envision your students using the collection;
anything additional that would show your institutions need for the
A three-person screening committee from the SACC Executive Board will
evaluate the applications and make recommendations. Application deadline is
