      Feminist Theory is a new international interdisciplinary journal being
      launched in April 2000 to provide a forum for critical analysis and
      con-structive debate within feminist theory. Feminist Theory will be
      genuinely interdisciplinary and will reflect the diversity of feminism,
      incorpor-ating perspectives from across the broad spectrum of the humanities
      and social sciences and the full range of feminist political and theoretical
      The journal will promote:
      * debate among theorists from diverse perspectives
      * critical engagements with shifting disciplinary hierarchies within
      feminist theory
      * challenges to existing theoretical orthodoxies and conventional
      definitions of theory
      * empirically grounded theorizing work as well as more conceptual work
      * writing which is politically engaged and which explores links
      between theory and practice
      * the crossing of theoretical and disciplinary boundaries

      Themes to be covered in early issues include:
      * What counts as feminist theory?
      * Agency in theory
      * New materialist feminisms
      * Between difference and gender
      * The cultural and the material

      In addition to longer articles, Feminist Theory will publish short think
      pieces, comments on past articles and theoretical reflections on topical
      issues. Readers will be encouraged to respond to these contributions, thus
      fostering ongoing debate and exchanges of ideas.
      Feminist Theory will include book reviews and review articles which set two
      or more recent books within the context of past debates.
