      Good day!

Here are news bulletins from The Chronicle of Higher Education
      for Tuesday, March 9.

      * NEARLY 10 PER CENT of freshmen who attended Florida's public
universities and community colleges last year on the state's
Bright Futures Scholarships had to take remedial classes in
reading, English, or math, according to a state analysis of
student records. Critics called the finding proof that the
expensive program was not achieving its aim of aiding
      Florida's best students.

      * A NEW REPORT by the American Indian Higher Education
Consortium and the Institute for Higher Education Policy
provides demographic and financial information that the
authors hope will increase educators' understanding of tribal
      colleges.
