      University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) seeks applicants for tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2014 to teach undergraduate Anthropology and MA Cross-Cultural Studies courses with a focus on engaged or applied anthropology, broadly defined. Programs have an established focus in human rights, social justice, religion, conflict resolution, public culture, race, ethnicity, and gender, and we seek applicants with related research, especially in the areas of health, diasporas, borderlands, food studies, or law. Seeking applicants with an active ethnographic research project, preferably outside the United States in Africa, African Diaspora, or East Asia. PhD in Anthropology or closely related field required. Demonstrated teaching experience is required, the ability to work with a diverse, non-traditional student body is essential. Interest in teaching several on-line classes is an asset. UHCL is located in southeast Houston, one of the most diverse cities in the United States with significant Mexican, Central American, Vietnamese, Chinese, South Asian, Nigerian, African American, Middle Eastern, and Anglo American communities, among others.
