      W. Jeffrey Tatum, The Patrician Tribune: Publius Clodius Pulcher

"Although the politics of the Late Roman Republic have been studied
withunremitting intensity and numerous biographies have appeared in recent
years dealing with most of the leading figures, there has until now been no
full modern biographical treatment of that most intriguing and tantalizing of
the protagonists, Publius Clodius Pulcher. Much attention has of course been
devoted to him, and several recent monographs have dealt with Clodian
themes.1 Nonetheless, there has been a real gap, which Jeffrey Tatum has now
      admirably filled. .."
