I was going to pay a visit to Six Flags New England for their first ever New Years celebration. But last week the park management abruptly decided to close down the park. With temperatures hovering in the single digits, it was deemed too frigid to continue. Our daughter went a few weeks ago and said that hot foods like French fries were served cold. They were cooked, but the minute they were place on the rack they quickly chilled. So the food was unappetizing. Also something I'm sure was a factor is that the park has a relatively limited amount of enclosed spaces in order to stay warm: three gift shops, two candy shops, the Opera House, Smokehouse BBQ, Looney Tunes Cafe, Rockville Theater, Primo Pizzeria, Hall of Justice and Johnny Rockets. None of those spaces is very large and only one of them (the Opera House) is a ride. I've heard that the park is going to give the prolonged season another go next year. They actually had pretty good weather up until late December, with temperatures generally above normal and very little snow. I wonder how they'd handle a "real" New England winter.
