      Feb. 13-Apr. 2 (Wednesday Evenings) - Java Programming for Kids - De Anza College, Cupertino
      Mar.  1 (Saturday) - LEGO Robotics NXT - Los Gatos (Daves Ave. Elementary)
      Mar.  8 (Saturday) - LEGO Robotics NXT - De Anza College, Cupertino
      Apr.  5 (Saturday) - LEGO Animation Studio - Los Gatos (Daves Ave. Elementary)
      Apr. 26 (Saturday) - LEGO Animation Studio - De Anza College, Cupertino
       
      Note that the Los Gatos classes are often smaller, and a good
      opportunity to get extra individual attention from the instructor.

      Here are some details about "Java Programming for Kids"
       
      Instructor: Steve Putz
      Wednesdays, Feb.13 to April 2, 6:30pm-8:00pm
      Location: De Anza College, Room: L-83
      $189 (Additional $15 materials fee payable to the instructor)
       
      This eight-week class is a beginner's introduction to Java
      programming for kids in grades 6 through 9.  Older students
      and adults are also welcome to register.  Programming
      concepts and techniques are introduced and practiced through
      a series of fun programming examples. 
       
      Topics include:
       - Using variables
       - Creating a Java applet
       - Simple graphics
       - Defining new object classes
       - Interactive applet with buttons
       - Animation
       - Creating a simple interactive game 
       
      Class sessions include time to work on the programs with help from the
      instructor.  Some homework time is required to complete the lessons.
      Students should bring their own laptop computer (PC or Mac), or arrange
      with the instructor for use of a computer (for an extra fee).  Software
      is provided at the first class.

      Lego Robotics RCX

      Location: Daves Ave. Elementary Clubhouse, Los Gatos
      $109 (Additional $5 materials fee payable to the instructor during class)
       
      An exciting introduction to the RCX LEGO Mindstorms Robotics Invention
      System. Learn mechanical design, construction, programming & teamwork
      skills. In pairs, using LEGO building elements, motors & sensors,
      students build different robots & program them with a computer to move,
      react & make sounds to solve challenges. This class is good practice for
      kids or mentors interested in robotics competitions such as FIRST LEGO
      League. The minimum age is 8 and adults are welcome to register. Please
      bring a sack lunch for a 45- minute lunch break. A $5 materials fee is
      due in class for class materials, folder, handouts, and use of
      equipment.
