Enrollment is still open for after-school enrichment classes and Saturday workshops in LEGO Animation or LEGO Robotics this spring.

In particular, the Monday afternoon animation class at Argonaut Elementary School (3:15 - 5:15) currently has very few students, so this is a great opportunity to attend a small class with lots of individual attention. If you would like to sign up, call the Los Gatos-Saratoga recreation department at 408-354-8700.

      Robotics LEGO Animation Studio

In this class, you work with a partner to build your own mini movie set and create your own animated movie using provided LEGO mini figures or other objects you bring or make! Using LEGO Cam and LEGO Studios software, you use a computer and video camera to make your animated movie using stop-motion and live video techniques. You then edit your movie and add exciting sound effects, music, narration and titles with the LEGO Studios software. Your finished movie will be put on a DVD you receive at the end of the session. Note: A $10 materials fee is payable directly to the instructor on the first day of class.

      Saturday, April 29, 9:00am-4:00pm
Location: Blossom Hill Clubhouse, Los Gatos
$99 (Additional $5 materials fee payable to the instructor during class)

This class is an introduction to building and programming robots using the LEGO Mindstorms Robotics Invention System. Students will learn mechanical design, construction, programming and teamwork skills. In small teams, using LEGO blocks, motors and sensors, students explore gears and pulleys, build and control a line drawing robot, and finally build a robot that can find its own way and avoid obstacles. Students use a computer to teach their robot to move, react, and make sounds in order to solve challenges. This class is good practice for kids or mentors interested in robotics competitions such as FIRST LEGO League. The minimum age is 8, and adults are welcome to register. Please bring a sack lunch for a 45-minute lunch break. A $5 materials fee payable to the instructor.
