  • When I took my unit apart, if you have the same design, the manual controller is in a cradle and lifts up to expose the charging port. What you can't see is that inside is a yellow wire that connects to the circuit board. Over time this back and forth motion can wear the wire in two. Not sure if that's your problem but worth checking into. On Sat, Sep 13, 2014 at 3:56 PM, Richard...

  • There's also another basic wall charger that charges into the port at the cradle, or that's an option on the RL 1000. I think that charger's just about 30 bucks. You can't charge more than one battery pack as it does charge through the unit. So, if you have a problem with it charging internally, that may not be an option for you. • ...the yellow cord goes into the body of the mower. I don't have a clue how to get to it. Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android From: R T southbound03@^$4 [RoboMower] < RoboMower@^$5 >; To: < RoboMower@^$6 >; Subject: Re: [RoboMower] Batteries not charging Sent: Thu, Jul 17, 2014...

  • The yellow cable in the cradle is the first place to look as it flexes back and forth everytime that controller is removed or the charger is attached to the port it's on. Check the connection of the controller for corrosion. I've had the same problem with the RL1000. The controller board that the controller hooks into really isn't that expensive. I think 16 bucks when I bought it...

  • Yeah, those are available and shouldn't be a back order item. Might set you back 40 bucks for a pair. They are set with brass bushings and it's not a picnic to get them off. Because a great deal of force is required to push the new pinions on the motor, usually a machine shop is the way to go. However, that was the beginning of the downfall of mine. The machine shop made a mistake...

  • I have had mine run to one side which turned out to be a stick lodged in it. I assume you've checked that. I'd take the rear wheels off the ground and rotate them. They should turn with an even resistance. If suddenly they turn very freely and the sound changes, you may have stripped the pinon gears out. To my knowledge, the little motors aren't serviceable. Last I checked they run...

  • Not sure what the rechargeable battery does as I don't think my model has one. I've thoroughly taken it apart and see in the online descriptions where it would be on some types. I can only guess that it's there as a backup to keep settings if the power pack is removed or is used up and drained. All rechargeable batteries have a life expectancy. I think I recall reading that a...

  • If that's for a docking station, it's very likely that the circuit board drops down the voltage and possible amperage. You mentioned 4.5 volts leading me to believe it's similar to mine taking size C batteries. You could kind of just temporarily wire it to the battery connector and that has the plug already to the circuit board. I can think of no advantages to doing this to a...

  • Opps. I sited general amperage for AA batteries and this uses C batteries. The concept of my answer is the same for AA or C batteries. However, this does lead me to believe that the issue is not enough amperage because a general use C battery is likely to have more capacity. That said, you do need to be very mindful of the amperage not not supply too much as you could burn the...
