I will never forget it. I was in the yard, next to the driveway beside that old brick house we rented. For whatever reason, I teased Lynn Kirkpatrick about Valetta Shippy being his girlfriend (quite untrue of course). Lynn got mad and came after me with a broken tree branch. I hopped on my bike and raced down the driveway and onto the gravel road without checking for traffic -- and that's when I got hit. The front of Bob Sliger's car caught my left hip and I was tossed into the air. I landed on the gravel and instinctively rolled into the grass. My bike was messed up; Uncle Stanley soon fixed it up in order to make it rideable. I was, surprisingly, unhurt. But looking back, I believe I was in a mild state of shock because I walked around for awhile in a bit of a daze.I think I once mentioned this episode to Lynn, but he could not remember it. No hard feelings, Lynn -- I should not have teased you in the first place, and I should have checked for cars regardless!--Bob////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
