Old Auburn (aka McIntosh) H.S. headed toward oblivion ... 10-8-09
- FYI -- here is the comment I just posted in several places on the site www.saveauburnhighschool.com :
Apparently the "grand old lady" is going to go the way of so many important landmarks in DeKalb County and across the nation -- knocked down into a pile of rubble and then hauled to a landfill, unless the contracting entity that hired the wrecking crew is farsighted enough to recycle the bricks into a new construction somewhere. The architecture reminds me a bit of my beloved old Waterloo High School, likewise demolished years ago.It seems to me the home of A.H.S. could have been rehabbed and turned into something useful for the community -- but oh, well...--Bob Friend

A big THANKS to my friend Dave Turner for informing me of all this.--BOB FRIEND////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

You'll see a link to my photos on there somewhere....
Sadly, there's orange fence around the school now and some destruction equipment in the parking lot.
