- Mike and the list,
I am working on a great project developed by David Bernier which is
marketing a series of events celebrating the 225th Anniversary of
what is known as the Burgoyne Campaign.
There is an effort by various groups (over 16) to joint promote and
market the 225th events in New York and New England as The Northern
Campaign and to develop a list of events and the contact
information. Then the list will be made up into a flyer and a
website (with various links) which can be passed out at events or
sites to promote all the events. The concept of being all the boats
rise in higher water. Current partners included the National Park
Service, Fort Ti, NY State Parks and Rec, Vermont Division of
Historic Preservations, and many other organizations.
Participants in the partnership would be asked to share flyers at
events. If it is appropriate, publish it in their newsletter, or
change the material an use it in a form that is going to work for the
organization. It is a very loose partnership. We have set up a very
simple web site www.thenortherncampaign.org on this. That is it.
We are going to try to schedule some press conferences in the Capital
Region and the Lake Champlain area to promote the events. We will
also do what we can to tie into the I Love NY sites. We do have a
partner from The Northern Campaign who is going to England next month
to meet with the I Love NY people to try to encourage group tourism
from England and Germany for The Northern Campaign.
Below is the information, this is designed for a general audience but
it can help you plan your vacation time.

- The 2d Virginia Regiment is also working on a 225th event for the
Philadelphia Campaign to be held on part of Valley Forge NHP
September 21-22, 2002. It will be a progressive immersion event, the
focus being on the period following the British success at the Battle
of Brandywine, the rain-out at the Battle of the Clouds and the Paoli
Massacre when the British were camped at Tredyffrin in preparation to
The location, though on park land, is not in the main "hutted" area,
rather a clump of period homes which were the site of skirmishing as
Washington pulled his troops across Schuylkill River. In fact, the
event will end with a "march out" of a mile or so, following the same
route the Continentals used to withdraw and ford the river with the
British close behind.
Details are forming, but the date is fixed.
