I agree with Brian, that you are "over" doing it in a single query.  You should take advantage of the WITH clause.  Until you get full understanding of SQL

You’re right, there is an over count. I think it’s counting games facing any pitcher of that hand. It would need to be narrowed down to the starting

I think you’re trying too many steps at once. Remember also that if you use a SUM or COUNT you need to GROUP BY all of the fixed parameters This query works,
