Re: [RedHotJazz] New Two-CD Set "The Influence of Bi x Beiderbecke"
- Albert--- Thanks for posting the notice. I probably have all of the US items but I certainly would like to hear the European stuff. And it would be nice to have it all collected in a 2-CD set.
I think it was Rust some 30 -40 years ago who called attention to the immediate influence Bix had on Sterling Bose. Rust pointed out that the first Arcadian Seranader sided Bose did were white New Orleans style, but then after Bose heard Bix at St Louis' Arcadian Ballroom he changed dramatically, using Bix' phrasing in ensemble passages.
I just emailed Nick Dellow to order the CS set.

Subject: [RedHotJazz] New Two-CD Set "The Influence of Bix Beiderbecke"
I am pleased to announce, on behalf of Nick Dellow, that the two-CD
set "The Influence of Bix Beiderbecke" has just been released.
"The Influence of Bix Beiderbecke" is a new two-CD set that includes
51 rare recordings from the 1920s and early 1930s, each of which
contains solo work or arrangements that demonstrate the extent of
Bix's influence during this period. The first CD concentrates on
recordings made by American jazz musicians and the second on records
made by European musicians under the spell of Bix. Each CD is
accompanied by an illustrated booklet. Spanning 64 pages in total,
these booklets provide in-depth information on each track and
extensive background details concerning the bandleaders and musicians
that recorded them. A full discography completes the CD set.
These are professionally produced CDs, not CD-Rs.
All profits from the sales of the CD set will go towards helping to
meet the medical expenses for respected author and jazz musician
Richard Sudhalter, who is suffering from multiple system atrophy and
lives in a nursing home in New York City.
