This is not because I'm criticising the group. My reason is that members are
obviously mostly followers of the very early jazz recordings and I give you
full marks for this . My preference, however, is for the music of the big bands
from the mid 1930s to the 1950s so there is not really much interest for me
      here.
Accordingly I'm saying goodbye and at the same time applauding the fact that
you are keeping alive the interest in those early musicians who laid the
foundations for the formation of 'swing'and the big bands.
Best wishes from Australia's Gold Coast.
      Lesjay.

        Les,

I decided to allow your post to the group although we now have no other
choice than send you private replies, because I think I have something to
        add.

I know you were unlucky with your first and only message three months ago,
but it's still up to every group member to start topics and we really
insisted that the RHJ group should not be limited to the content of Scott's
        website.

        Anyway, The RHJ group's archives,
        http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/RedHotJazz/ ,
are public, so subscribing to the group or not makes no difference for
        web-only readers.

Everyone please, if the only thing which troubles you after a while is
getting the group's mail right into your mailboxes, instead of clicking
        RedHotJazz-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com , why not
        click RedHotJazz-nomail@yahoogroups.com ?

Same result, except that you can "come back" any time without requesting a
new subscription if you happen to change your mind.
Believe me, it is always a frustration to get messages which read :
"This is an automated email message to let you know that
XXX xxx@... unsubscribed from your RedHotJazz group."

A purely moral thing, of couse, Michael and I don't get tips from Yahoo for
every subscribed reader (thinking about it, maybe we ought to ;-)))

        Patrice
