      Sorry, maybe I should have spoken up before now, but it is likely that
      the Alan Ward you are looking for, if he wrote a sleevenote for an
      album of New Orleans music, is the Alan Ward who used to write for
      Footnote, the fore-runner to New Orleans Music magazine. He also used
      to be one of the partners in Nola Records along with Mike Dine, Charlie
      Crump, and Tom Stagg. Sadly, I think I heard that he died a few years
      ago. With all due respect to The British Library, from what I know of
      that organisation they are unlikely to employ anyone for their
      specialist knowledge of New Orleans music.
