Aerodactyl on the move
- A squirtle and a maril bickered with each other over a seashell as
they stood upon the night shore of a very great lake. They squabbled
over who was the shell's rightful owner and took no notice to the
large pair of blood red eyes that watched them from the distant tree
line of the forest near the lake. The squirtle babbled on something
about it seeing the shell first, but it stopped when it noticed the
maril's face changed from a frown to surprise. Turning around it
spotted a giant aerodactyl crawling on all fours making a bee line
strait for them.
Both water pokemon's eyes widened and they forgot the shell and made
with much haste to the safety of the water and jumped into it just as
the aerodactyl reached their shell which used to seem so important,
it kicked up some sand with its large talons as it came to a halt.
The squirtle disappeared beneath the surface as the aerodactyl stood
on shore watching them in apparent disappointment. The maril could
see that the 17 foot dino had its left wing torn and it looked rather
famished for its ribs could be seen under its skin, it squirted a
stream of water which struck the aerodactyl in the face, before it
squeaked a laugh then disappeared beneath the water.
Rex groaned and wiped his face on his wing. He looked thinner from
lack of food and was obviously just trying to get prey from wherever
he could find it no matter how small. "Anything not to starve" he
muttered to himself. Rex glanced over his shoulder to spot a pair of
rattatas and a ferret giggling amongst themselves as they pointed at
him. The pokemon had been following him for a day now just to get
their kicks out mocking something that was so large yet helpless, Rex
had tried to catch them but they got away and having realized how he
was slower than them, they now entertained themselves at his expense.
"What's the matter birdie? Don't know how to swim?" said one rattata
before descending into giggles, "Yeah, you might as well learn" said
the ferret, "since you can't fly!" added the other rattata as they
all began to giggle at their taunts.
Rex sighed and turned his back to them as he stared out across the
lake. He had been traveling west for days now and he still had a long
way to go, and at the very sporadic rate he had been catching prey,
he was not sure if he would have the strength to make it there.
The aerodactyl lay down and curled around itself and tried to fall
asleep. He found himself thinking about Chvana and her condition,
hoping he did the right thing in leaving her with Corinne and
Chardra, but he could not help but feel that he was wrong in leaving
his friends behind. ~Well what could I have possibly done? I was just
a dead weight on them~ thought Rex in frustration, trying to bury the
guilt. He closed his eyes and he felt the comfort of sleep overtake
him, it was the only way to escape hunger. Though now Rex found
himself sometimes wondering if he would even wake up.
- Rex flew through the air above a great Lake Claru at the foot of the
mountains' pass, feeling as if he were putting distance between
himself and his past with every motion of his grey wings. He could
feel the warmth of the charmander's tail in his mouth, though she had
remained quite still for him, she was beginning to fidget.
Folding his great wings, the giant aerodactyl descended towards the
mountain side next to the quickly making the pichu behind his horn
squeak in fear. Slowing down as he approached, the aero kept his 35
foot wings spread for balance as he touched down on the lip of a cave
in the mountain's side a good hundred yards above the lake.
"What's wrong Riley?" asked Rex after he let the small charmander out
of his mouth and into his hand.
"Philip, didn't fly that high" said Riley as he hopped down Rex's
long back, onto his 15 foot tail, then the ground. He brushed off his
fur then looked back up to see Rex smiling as he tended to the char
he held. "What's her name?" asked Riley.
Rex stopped smiling as he looked at the small creature in his huge
hand. "Ellwin" he said at last. The slits in his blood red eyes
narrowed as he used his long and sharp vision to spot three small
Mews appear out of seemingly nowhere on a rock a mile away on the
other side of the lake, the red light of the setting sun illuminating
