      I do.

It is great to take good care of ourselves and doing so is better for the environment, our health and for the plants and animals of our planet.  But if you are like me just doing this for myself was not enough.  I needed to volunteer and to help reach others.

For years I worked to promote "The International Raw and Living Foods Festival" and then "The Raw and Living Spirit Retreat".  Now those volunteer opportunities are no longer available to me.  I do some web based outreach but 6 months ago I discovered leafleting for PETA, Vegan Outreach, Christian Vegetarian Association, IDA etc.  Lots of great groups will provide us with free literature to pass out at colleges, high schools, concerts and other public events.

It is not easy work but it is rewarding.  Vegetarians, vegans and raw vegans seem to appreciate the support of seeing their message in public.  Omnivores have a range of reactions but it is necessary in my mind to challenge the main paradigm in a personal one on one way.

In the future I hope to be able to leaflet for peace, justice, true democracy, forest gardening etc. but right now I am very grateful to have this opportunity to leaflet and I heartily recommend to you.  Please consider if you can give a few hours each week, month or whatever you can spare to do so also.

For me it is a spiritual practice, I dress for the volunteer work, conduct myself in a respectful, polite, patient and caring way.  Tonight I leaflet'ed the James Taylor and Carole King concert for 1.25 hours and got the vegetarian/vegan/green message out to 1000's.  Thirty people actually took literature to read and probably a few will make serious changes in their life whether or not they took literature tonight.  Who knows what the affect of this small effort will be?  Others have much more success at this than I do.  Some people are able to distribute 100's of leaflets in an hour. Estimates are that 3 to 6 percent of those who take a booklet will become vegetarian or vegan.  So this is rewarding! to know we can make that big a difference.  Few of my family or friends have made that change yet after 18 years!

If you currently know of other leafleting opportunities please share them with me on or off this list.

Thank you so very much for all you currently do.

      Bill
