Subject: Thank you for the many years of support

      Dear Friends,

I write today to formally share with you my decision not to seek re-election to Congress this fall. As I told a group in Gwinnett on Saturday when I made the announcement, "It is just time."  If you would like to hear more about the details of my decision, please click here to listen as I shared my decision on the Neal Boortz show this week.

Thank you for friendship and all of your support during my years serving in the U.S. House of Representatives.  It continues to be my great honor to serve you, and I hope that you will continue to call on me throughout 2010.

      My best,

      John

Because he has been an RLC endorsee (back when an RLC endorsement was a rare
distinction) and is the champion of the FairTax. His Liberty Index ratings
          are as follows:

          Liberty Index Ratings

          Pers% Econ% Comb%
          1993 p: 73 e: 96 c: 84.5 Libertarian
          1994 p: 55 e: 82 c: 68.5 Enterpriser
          1995 p: 61 e: 78 c: 69.5 Enterpriser
          1996 p: 69 e: 82 c: 75.5 Libertarian
          1997 p: 65 e: 68 c: 66.5 Enterpriser
          1998 p: 78 e: 75 c: 76.5 Libertarian
          1999 p: 74 e: 77 c: 75.5 Libertarian
          2000 p: 76 e: 86 c: 81.0 Libertarian
          2001 p: 63 e: 89 c: 76.0 Libertarian
          2002 p: 68 e: 90 c: 79.0 Libertarian
          2003 p: 35 e: 90 c: 62.5 Right-Winger
          2004 p: 55 e: 90 c: 72.5 Enterpriser
          2005 p: 40 e: 95 c: 67.5 Right-Winger
          LIFE p: 63 e: 85 c: 73.5 Enterpriser

Now that you ask, I see that his liberty-inclinations appear to have tapered
off in later years--perhaps an argument for term limits--but, on the whole,
he has been one of the more consistent champions of liberty in congress.

Many of us here are thankful to see him go, and hope that his FairTax bill -
which he loved to tout in the district, but never did anything for in DC -
leaves with him. I used to support it, before I researched it more in-depth.
            No thanks. :-/
