The RLC National Board of Directors completed an email ballot on
several issues last week. Congratulations to Philip Blumel of Florida,
a long-time activist who was elected as a National Alternate Director.
Hoping to take an early role in 2008 politics, the Board has given
it's endorsement to Mark Sanford for South Carolina Governor in 2006
and has urged Chartered RLC Boards to endorse Sanford for the GOP
Presidential nomination for 2008. An official RLC endorsement for the
Presidency requires unanimous agreement of all Chartered states and
the National Board, but there is no deadline for reaching a consensus.
In the meantime, the Board approved the acquisition and initial
development of a 'Draft Sanford' website, which is already under
construction. Also approved was an upgrade of the RLC website,
which will be moved to an independent ISP service.
National will pick up some of the expenses of Tim Condon, the
Assistant Chapter Director, who has been making excellent progress
in developing the New Hampshire RLC.
