Back in 1994, the Republican Liberty Caucus was one of the staunchest
supporters of Fred Thompson for US Senate in Tennessee. RLC National
Board member Michael McCloskey was one of his top Campaign
Volunteers. RLC continued to support Fred throughout his years in the
Senate, and viewed him as moderately libertarian.
Now that Fred is jumping in the race, it makes far less sense for the
RLC to officially back Ron Paul for President.
Thompson has just as much claim to representing RLC values as does
