Re: I really don't understand support for Giuliani
- Here is an editorial from a libertarian perspective on Teddy Roosevelt:I find TR an interesting historical figure. I also find Hitler and Stalin to be interesting historical figures. That doesn't mean I'm looking for a president who'll emulate them. I find the idea of a "larger than life" president a little disconcerting. But as far as an admirable candidate whom I would trust to do the right thing most of the time, Ron sure fits the bill a whole lot better than Mayor Giuliani!----- Original Message ----

Regarding the Boaz article, I think that a lot of libertarians are
drawn to Rudy on the same basis that they would have found Andrew
Jackson attractive and certainly still find Teddy Roosevelt
appealing. Libertarianism has its roots in the romantic era, and the
idea of the larger-than- life figure who will do what's right whether
anyone agrees with him or supports him or not, is very appealing.
It's the 'majority of one' concept which sort of transcends the other
shortcomings a candidate may have.
