Ron Paul for US President in 2008?
- John's right. I think I would make a great president myself -- and a better King --but I don't think many others would agree. Same with Ron Paul (OK, sure he would get more votes than me but what does it matter since it would still not register on anybody's radar screen). What he should do is get behind a good candidate and help him win and we could all join with Ron and other good representatives of our values and add up to something in the big picture. The Republican Study Committee consists of about 100 of the best in Congress and that is a good place to gather allies. http://www.house.gov/list/press/tx05_hensarling/rsc/PR011007b.htmlRon Paul should cooperate more with others like the RSC and not be such a lone wolf. You don't have to compromise your principles to work for the best result in politics but you do have to have allies. That is why the LP is so impotent and the RLC is beginning to have such an impact --for example the Club For Growth http://www.clubforgrowth.org/ is raising many $millions for pro-growth libertarian/conservative candidates who have a fighting chance with that kind of help. But a Ron Paul candidacy can help us build the RLC by bringing in the LP members from the wilderness and we can help him promote libertarian principles within the Republican party that can result in a block of voters that is meaningful to a viable candidate. -Geo.----- Original Message -----From: <jonhenke@...>Sent: Thursday, February 01, 2007 4:12 PMSubject: Re: [RLC-Action] Re: join YouTube group Ron Paul for US President in 2008> My interest in electing good candidates has not overwhelmed my common sense. *I* would like to be President, too, but I'm not fool enough to think I would win.
