      ACTIONABLE

      Dear Liberty Coalition,

The Senate Intelligence Committee might be in the process of abdicating
their Congressional oversight responsibilities as it relates to the warrentless
NSA wiretapping program. The intel committee is scheduled to vote tomorrow
(Thursday) on a motion to start an inquiry into the NSA domestic spying
program. According to a story in the Washington Post (see below) a once
independent bi-partisan committee is now leaning away from an inquiry. It is vital for
each of our partners and their members to contact the following Senate
offices (both DC and district offices) and tell them to support the Committee
resolution to get documents and more facts about the program as part of its role
in the process of checks and balances on this and future presidents:

Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE) DC office-202-224-4224 AND District Office- Omaha:
      402-758-8981

Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-ME) DC office-202-224-5344 AND District
      Office-Portland: 207-874-0883 or Augusta 207-622-8292 or Bangor 207-945-0432

Sen. Mike Dewine (R-OH) DC office-202-224-2315 AND District Office-
Columbus: 614-469-5186 or Cincinnati 513-763-8260 or Cleveland 216-522-7272

Tell them the failure to have Congress insist on receiving basic
documentation about this program would be an abdication of Congress' constitutional and
statutory responsibility and will not be tolerated. If they will not do
their job, then the voters will find someone who will.

      In Liberty,
      Michael
