      Boles:

What program is best for entering and printing out data? I am
especially interested in creating a name index from the data, something
that Goldie did with 3x5 cards. This kind of paper indexing is tedious
      in the extreme.

Could one use Excel just as well? If data entered in Excel could be
coded so that names were automatically alphabetized across all cells in
all rows and columns, this might work. Anybody hear anything about this?

Any program should be capable of handling large extraneous reports, such
as interview with relatives, and apparently contradictory information,
and material for reporting sources in detail.

And any program should be able to link up families with little arrows
across the page. Not sure Excel can do this. Research that goes way
back in time would need at least two hundred rows of data -- or more --
for all those ancestors discovered in that time.

Hypertext links should be present and usable, so when those crazy things
are found, such as an unknown distant cousin who was Ronald Reagan's
grandmother, they can be discovered quickly.

And entry of DNA data should be possible, and should be do-able in a way
that makes the stuff jump out at you.
