Group Description

This is a group for the members of Family Tree DNA's R1b-P312 and Subclades Project to discuss topics related to R1b-P312's origin, age and geographic distribution. Additional focuses are to share detailed data on P312 haplotypes and relationships as well as evaluate new SNP discoveries that might apply to P312* paragroup people. The R1b-P312* paragroup consists of people that are P312+ but negative for all known downstream SNP's. However, all P312+ people, including DF27+, U152+, M222+, SRY2627+ and L21+ people, are welcome to this Yahoo Group and the FTDNA project.

P312 is a Single-Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) on the Y chromosome. P312 is also known as S116 and rs34276300.

The modal haplotype for all of P312 is in Ysearch XQJ7H. The modal for DF27 is 53ZBP, for U152 it's QM4ES and L21 is K9VGV.

Please check out the FILES and LINKS menu items of this yahoo group (under MORE).

If you are an FTDNA customer AND are P312+, please join the P312 project by clicking here .
This is a public project where surname, origin and results data are available.

The group's purpose is to advance deeper testing and understanding of R1b-P312. An important goal is to discover the full deep ancestral family tree of paternal lineages for P312 people. The primary method of marking branches in the tree are SNPs.

Please consider deeper SNP testing via Next Generation Sequencing (Big Y) or the Advanced Orders menu in your FTDNA account. The R1b-P312 clade of people is very common across Western Eurasia so it is important to determine what subclade of P312 that you fit it into.

The forum is intended for those in the project and interested in pursuing project goals. English is the primary language used on this forum. Do not use this for non-P312 specific topics, promotion, a cultural agenda or to denigrate others. This can result in being banned without warning
