Group Description

This is a group for the members of Family Tree DNA's R1b-P312 and Subclades Project to discuss topics related to R1b-P312's origin, age and geographic distribution. Additional focuses are to share detailed data on P312 haplotypes and relationships as well as evaluate new SNP discoveries that might apply to P312* paragroup people. The R1b-P312* paragroup consists of people that are P312+ but negative for all known downstream SNP's. However, all P312+ people, including DF19+, DF99+, L238+, DF27+, U152+, SRY2627+ and L21+ people, are welcome to this Yahoo Group and the FTDNA project.

P312 is a Single-Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) on the Y chromosome. P312 is also known as S116 and rs34276300.

The modal haplotype for all of P312 is in Ysearch XQJ7H. The modal for DF27 is 53ZBP, for U152 it's QM4ES and L21 is K9VGV.

Please check out the FILES and LINKS menu items of this yahoo group (under MORE).

If you are an FTDNA customer AND are P312+, please join
This is a public project where surname, origin and results data are available.

An important goal is to discover the full deep ancestral family tree of paternal lineages for all R1b-L21 people. Please consider deeper SNP testing via Big Y, FGC, YSEQ or the Orders/Advanced Testing menu in FTDNA. R1b-P312 is a large group so it is very helpful to determine what subclade of P312 you are in.

Please don't be afraid to ask for help on deciding what to test for. No sincere question is bad. We are all learning.

The group's goal is to advance deeper testing and understanding of R1b-P312. The group is for those in the project and interested in project goals. Do not post non-P312 topics, general commercial promotion, nor denigrate people, companies or products, or otherwise be inflammatory. This can result in banning.
