English Translation of Al-Qur'an
. Surah Al-Ma'idah [The Table Spread With Food]
Ayat 6. O you who believe! When you intend to offer As-Salat (the prayer), (perform abolition 'Wadu') wash your faces and your hands (forearms) up to the elbows, rub (by passing wet hands over) your heads, and (wash) your feet up to ankles . If you are in a state of Janaba (i.e. had a sexual discharge), purify yourself (bathe your whole body). But if you are ill or on a journey or any of you comes from answering the call of nature, or you have been in contact with women (i.e. sexual intercourse) and you find no water, then perform Tayammum with clean earth and rub therewith your faces and hands. Allah does not want to place you in difficulty, but He wants to purify you, and to complete His Favour on you that you may be thankful.
HadithEnglish Translation of Hadith
Hazrat Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her) says: that she borrowed a necklace from her sister Hazrat Asma (May Allah be pleased with her) and then it got lost. So Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) sent some people from his companions in search of it. In the meantime the stated time for the prayer became due and they offered their prayer without ablution(as there was no water available). When they came to the Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH), they complained about it to him, so the Verse regarding Tayammum was revealed. Hazrat Usaid bin Hudair (May Allah be pleased with him) said, "(O 'Aisha!) may Allah bless you with a good reward, for by Allah, never did a difficulty happen in connection with you, but Allah made an escape from it for you, and brought Allah's Blessings for all the Muslims."
[Al-Bukhari].Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Ma'idah Ayat 6 "and you find no water, then perform Tayammum with clean earth and rub therewith your faces and hands. Allah does not want to place you in difficulty",Its Allah's Blessings for the Muslims if water is not available you can perform Tayammum (in replacement of Wadu) for praying, this also shows importance of pray (As-Salat) in Islam..
