Group Description

This is a moderated, members-only group devoted to discussion of Quechee Lakes Landowners' Association, Inc. policy matters. It is not affiliated with or controlled by the Association. All members of the Quechee Club, as well as its staff, are welcome to participate. Please identify yourself when signing up so that your membership or staff status can be confirmed.

QLLA operates The Quechee Club in Quechee, Vermont, where all property owners in the Quechee Lakes Master Plan Subdivision are obligated by deed to be dues-paying members of the Association. As such, the landowners, not the developers, control and are responsible for the jointly-held assets of the Club, principally two championship golf courses, a ski hill, a 50 acre manmade lake, a tennis center, a clubhouse, base lodge and recreation center, and various other buildings.

The intent of this eGroup is to promote discussion of QLLA policy matters among the diverse population that constitutes our community. Too often we find ourselves talking only among members whose experience of Quechee is identical to ours, and so we tend to reinforce our own opinions. The distributed, time-insensitive nature of an eGroup mailing list will permit full and frank exchanges of different points of view, different analyses of the facts, and even a pooling of knowledge of just what the facts are.

I hope that in time this list and its affilated resources on the Yahoo site will be a place where QLLA members can find lots of acurate information, finely honed arguments on both sides of important questions, and an atmosphere of friendly respect among those with opposing points of view. In a sense, this list could serve the same function the Founding Fathers believed a free press would serve in the new Republic: that good information would drive out the bad, that exposure to all opinions would tend to draw out a consensus opinion, and that through shared common knowledge the best decisions would emerge.
