New Moon in Virgo

It’s appropriate that the traditional beginning of the school year happens in Virgo. At the time of this New Moon, the Sun is already half way through Virgo and, yes, it is now time to get back to the books – whatever books you may need to work on right now. Virgo says, Get busy! Clean things up! Study! Learn! Start a new PRACTICAL project! Don’t just sit there! DO something!
What is it you most need to do at this time? Do you need to think about this question? Mercury will help you. Mercury has been in Virgo since July 28 and will stay there until October 3, a very long time for this swiftly moving planet to be in one sign. And Mercury is retrograde until Sunday, giving you a chance to consider things you have pondered before. Remember that Virgo is concerned about the details because Virgo is the most idealistic of all the planets. What is your highest ideal? What is it that you would most like to achieve in this lifetime? After answering these questions, think about what practical step you could take right now that would move you toward this ideal.
In addition to the New Moon today, two planets are changing signs on this day. Retrograde Jupiter is moving back into mystical Pisces, and he might help you receive divine guidance about what it is you would most like to achieve at this time. In spite of Virgo’s urgency for you to get busy, Jupiter in Pisces will let you dream a bit, particularly about things you have dreamed about before. Such dreams may help you be clear about what you most need to do.
The other planet changing signs may not be so helpful concerning your “to do” list. Venus, still conjunct Mars, is moving into Scorpio, and she may distract you quite a bit with thoughts about the opposite sex. If Virgo isn’t keeping you too busy with what you need to get done, however, this could be a good time to find a new relationship or to rejuvenate an existing one. It might also be a good time to take a hard look at finances – or to engage in some sort of artistic enterprise.
The Tarot card for Virgo is The Hermit, standing at the top of a cliff and holding a lantern for those who are still climbing up. What lantern can you hold for others at this time?
Mercury is the ruler of Virgo, and the Tarot card for Mercury is the Magician. If you can focus clearly on the results you want, understand exactly what needs to be done, and assemble all the required components, magick can happen at the time of this New Moon.
- New Moon in VirgoSaturday, September 158:11 PMNow that we have passed the Full Moon in Aquarius, which happened in August, the Aquarian Age is well underway. This New Moon in Virgo is significant because it happens in the Sixth House, the natural house of Virgo, the House of Service. The Sun-Moon conjunction is also conjunct Mercury, which means that this is the perfect time to examine what service you are giving to the Aquarian Age. Remember, the Aquarian Age is a time of a great innovation and great freedom -- but it is also a time when all of us need to think of the larger world beyond our own little private concerns. We are all able to give wonderful gifts for the establishment of the better Aquarian world. Be sure you realize how much you have to offer.Venus in Leo is making a fire trine with Uranus in Aries, making a passionate plea for your help in doing what we need.
