Group Description

HPU and HPL (Hemopyrrolactamuria) was elucidated by Abram Hoffer MD in the 50's, named for the elevation of urinary metabolites with Pyrrole rings, it is thought to be epigenetic. It runs in families. Trauma or stress induced, stress intolerance is a hallmark symptom. 80% of tested Lyme patients were positive according to Dietrich Klinghardt MD Phd.

White spots in the fingernails, due to Zinc deficiency, are a pointer. HPU may manifest initially as behavioral & mood disorders.

Associated disorders: Addiction * Alcoholism * Allergies * Anxiety * Arthritis * Asthma * Autism * Bipolar * Cancer * CFS * Depression * Drug Addiction * FM * Heart Disease * Nightmares * Insomnia * Mood Disorders * MS * Poor or No Dream Recall

Lacking a body of peer reviewed scientific literature, HPU is looked upon as a pseudo disease by allopathic medicine. It is therefore not surprising that patients resort to the exceptionally talented pool of holistic practitioners. For their dedication and perseverance we are eternally grateful.

Symptoms range from stress intolerance to isolating behavior, social anxiety, panic attacks, drug, alcohol & multiple chemical sensitivity, mood swings, depression, prostate issues, sensitivity to light, noise & tactile stimuli, schizophrenia, pain, seizures, adrenal tenderness on deep palpation, physical debilitation, paranoia and even criminal behavior. A vulnerability to autoimmune and degenerative diseases may be due to an inability to detox metals and other biotoxins, particularly neurotoxins.

Zinc, B3, activated Vit B6 (P5P)and Omega 6 (Gamma Linolenic Acid), supplementation may yield noticeable improvements within as little as three days. Up to 4 months may be needed to see noticeable improvement. Symptoms may return within two weeks of cessation of effective supplement regimens.
