Performance and Capacity Engineer (Lanham, MD)
- Task Description:
Several legislatively mandated tax-related programs will result in orders-of-magnitude increases in the capacity and performance demands on the IRS IT Infrastructure. The CSC PRIME Infrastructure Integration Services (IIS) team needs pro-actively plan and engineer for these increases. The areas of responsibility will be:
Measurement and Reporting - Define specific performance and capacity elements to collect. Develop forecasting models to aggregate all forecast data
Analysis and Planning - Define all analysis/planning inputs (e.g. workload forecasts, hardware utilization trends, asset inventory, server topology maps, hardware architecture standards, technology trends). Develop capacity plan models that utilize the above defined inputs and that takes into consideration hardware/software/support costs, architectural/application life-cycles, hardware/software consolidation and tactical/strategic goals.
Here are just a sample of the technologies that will be required to understand and have the ability to communicate design decisions; IBM IHS,WebSphere, MQ Series, Citrix, CA eTrust, Siteminder, Solaris OS, Linux, LDOM, Zones, Containers, Symantec, Veritas CFS, Vmware, Firewall, Pix, Nokia,XML Gateways, F5 Load Balancers, WebMethods,EMC SAN, EMC Documentum.
