Subject: Screening: Sin País (Without Country) and The Barber of Birmingham / March 21 / benefit BFF

The monthly Berkeley Filmmakers Screening Series (BFSS) continues.  BFSS was established to showcase the award-winning independent cinema of the filmmakers at the Zaentz Media Center, 2600 Tenth Street, in Berkeley.
Thursday, March 21, at 7:00 pm will feature two documentary shorts:  Sin País (Without Country) by filmmaker Theo Rigby and The Barber of Birmingham by Robin Fryday and Gail Dolgin.  With intimate access and striking imagery, Sin País is a short film about a family as they are fractured by deportation.  Academy Award nominated, The Barber of Birmingham focuses on Mr. James Armstrong, a barber, a “foot soldier,” and a dreamer whose barbershop in Birmingham, Alabama, has been a hub for haircuts and civil rights since 1955.
Filmmaker (and BFF grant winner) Robin Fryday will host a Q&A following the screening.
The Barber of Birmingham was a 2011 Berkeley FILM Foundation grant winner. We think it is fitting that we use grant-winner screenings as an opportunity to further support the Berkeley FILM Foundation.  Therefore, tickets for this event are $10.00* * and directly benefit the Berkeley FILM Foundation, a grant program for independent filmmakers with a mission to nurture, sustain, and preserve the thriving Berkeley film community. The Berkeley FILM Foundation focuses on supporting the ideals reflected in Berkeley culture: social, historical, and innovative documentary and dramatic works.  It is made possible through funding from the City of Berkeley, Wareham Development, the Saul Zaentz Company, and others.
If you wish to make a reservation for this screening, please visit:  http://berkeleyfilmscreening.com/Films.html
All screenings will occur on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm.  Reservations will be taken for a particular month's screening only after the 1st of that month.  For more information on this and other scheduled films, please visit:
We look forward to seeing you at the movies!
      * * So that the entire $10.00 goes to the BFF, a $1.54 fee per ticket will be added to your $10.00 per ticket purchase. Thank you for your donation!
