i have posted several new theories on elevator plate movements on my ancient-mysteries@... site, that some of you, especially those living in the southwest, may be interested in. it ties andean legends to geological science in explaining the phenomena. yellowstone may be the key to elevator movements of the southwest. it could be now supported by steam.
the association of observed tsunami action to magma flow, may explain why plates, like in the andes, fall below sealevel, then uplift thousands of feet. during a large quake the sea withdraws, then comes rushing back with towering waves. magma being confined above comes back under more pressure, thus larger waves, creating greater uplifts. then it subsides, the plate cools, leaving a cavern beneath.
