Group Description

For those with rare disorders that waste potassium, an electrolyte needed to maintain heart function and life; such disorders are Bartter Syndrome, Gitelman's, and other rare disorders. Hypertension and renal disease apply. Many of these manifest in genotypes, however, others can be acquired.
Potassium is the ONE ELECTROLYTE that controls LIFE. Those on diuretics, HTN medications, and with a plethora of metabolic disorders must have stable K+ in their systems; it can be depleted or over compensated causing death.
