As a special tribute to Polish composer Henryk Górecki, who passed away last Friday, KUSC FM will present the October 1997 performance of Górecki conducting the USC Thornton Symphony in his Symphony No. 3, "Symphony of Sorrowful Songs", with soprano soloist Elizabeth Hynes.

The concert was part of the 1997 "Górecki Autumn" residency of Henryk Górecki at USC.

LA Times music critic Mark Swed described the performance as "Extraordinary, practically unfathomable...a triumph.", and listed that concert as the #1 arts event in Los Angeles for the year 1997. He again wrote at length in the Tuesday LA Times about Górecki's residency at USC.

The performance will be heard on 91.5 Classical KUSC, November 20th, at 4:30 PM, as part of KUSC host Dennis Bartel's new Saturday afternoon program.

The broadcast will aslo be streamed on KUSC's website, www.KUSC.org.
